Flight Information

  • What you'll need for booking your flight with DeLuxe Hiking?

    When booking a vacation that includes flights, your reservation will require your full legal name as it is shown on government-issued identification. Once a flight is booked, it is non-refundable and any changes to name or details may not be possible or may be subject to fees imposed by the airline.

  • Pre-Assigned Seats

    Most airlines charge for pre-assigned seats. Where pre-assigned seats are not offered, guests must contact the airline directly to arrange their seat assignment. Depending on the airline and/or destination, changing your pre-assigned seat may be subject to an additional fee. Seating is solely under the airline’s control, as are itinerary changes due to flight delays and scheduled changes.

  • Flight Changes and Cancellations

    Flight changes and cancellations are the responsibility of the airline and are beyond our control. DeLuxe Hiking will not be responsible or liable for such changes, or any additional charges that may be involved.

  • Flight Departure Fees

    Some cities/countries have departure taxes that are payable upon exiting in local currency. These fees are not included in your tour price as these fees must be paid in cash. If required, this fee will be noted on your travel documents.

  • Meal Requests

    Special meal requests, where available on airlines, can be requested at time of booking. DeLuxe Hiking cannot guarantee the request will be granted.

  • Luggage

    Luggage size and weight restrictions are imposed by the air carrier. With your travel documents, DeLuxe Hiking will advise you of the luggage restrictions and cost per checked bag. Airline baggage fees may apply and are not included in the tour price.

  • Who's responsible for my luggage?

    Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the owner at all times. 

  • What condition does my luggage need to be in?

    Although DeLuxe Hiking staff is careful with your luggage, please ensure that your luggage is in a condition sufficient to withstand the normal loading, unloading and delivery process.


    DeLuxe Hiking does not accept liability for damage to luggage such as: broken wheels or feet, lost pull straps, damage to retractable luggage handles, or damage resulting from over packed luggage.

  • What are the weight restrictions?

    Regardless of its size, your suitcase must not exceed 50lbs. Extra charges apply to overweight or additional luggage. You are prohibited from carrying meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables across the border. Please do not lock your suitcase, as border security officials may do random searches.

  • How much luggage can I bring?

    On all vacations, one (1) large piece of luggage and one (1) carry-on is permitted. Overhead bins on the coach are much smaller than on aircrafts, therefore your carry-on dimensions should not exceed the maximum size (see separate tab). Your single large piece of luggage will be stored beneath the coach and delivered to your room each night. The tour price includes luggage handling at all hotels. Luggage tags will be provided for identification by hotels.

  • What are acceptable sizes?

    Large Suitcase

    Max Size: 30”x 18”x 10” (76 x 46 x 25 cm)

    Max Weight: 50 lbs (23 kg)


    Carry-On

    Max Size: 16”x 12”x 8” (40 x 30 x 20 cm)

    Max Weight: 50 lbs (23 kg)

  • What if my vacation involves a flight?

    If your vacation involves a flight, you will be subject to the luggage size and weight restrictions imposed by the air carrier. With your travel documents, DeLuxe Hiking will advise you of the luggage restrictions and cost per checked bag. Airline baggage fees may apply and are not included in the tour price.

Travel Insurance

  • Understanding Your Coverage

    Like all insurance arrangements, travel insurance is characterized by very specific and precise wording which deals with benefits and the conditions that will exclude coverage. DeLuxe Hiking recommends that you read your insurance documents carefully and call if you have any questions.


    DeLuxe Hiking works with Travel Guard a company providing quality travel insurance options with a global network of travel and emergency assistance services to help when you are most in need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


    DeLuxe Hiking offers a range of choices including a complete package, medical only, insurance for individual tours, or even medical insurance as an annual plan.

  • Medical Insurance

    You should never travel outside of Ontario without adequate medical insurance. Medical insurance covers unforeseen events that can occur while travelling, making it possible to receive immediate treatment from a licensed physician or to be hospitalized. The cost of medical insurance varies depending on your age and medical condition.

  • Trip Interruption Insurance

    Trip interruption insurance provides a refund for the unused portion of your trip, should you need to return home early, due to an unforeseen medical emergency.

  • Be Aware of the Terms

    Insurance premiums are not refundable. You must be aware of the terms that may limit benefits and amounts payable. We’ll discuss them with you when we quote you a rate, and we’ll send you a booklet with all the insurance details when you purchase insurance with DeLuxe Hiking.
