Double: $7,995, Single: $10,995

Book by December 15, 2017 and SAVE $200 pp or book by March 16, 2018 and SAVE $100 pp.

(Route A)

Travel by motorcoach to Crestwood, IL located on the fringe of the Windy City. Then, hop on Amtrak’s Southwest Chief for a 40-hour cross-country journey through the American West. We’ll cross the mighty Mississippi, and take the Sante Fe Trail through New Mexico en route to Arizona.

Spectacular landscapes roll by the huge train windows: golden fields, fruit plains, snowy peaks, canyon passes barely wider than the train itself, flat-topped mesas, and deserts with flowering cactus and tumbleweeds. Look for ranches (and cowboys), missions, and pueblos that anchor this vast and grand terrain.

The Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and America’s most famous attraction. With a guide, we’ll fill our souls with the enormity of this massive geologic wonder, then, Viva Las Vegas! Welcome to the corner of the Mojave that never sleeps, with so much to explore during your free time.

It’s on to Yosemite with an 82-mile jaw-dropping ride past granite monoliths (El Capitan and the Half Dome, North America’s sheerest face), gemstone lakes, subalpine wilderness, and giant sequoias that grow into the clouds.

Homeward bound, we board the California Zephyr and take in the rugged High Sierras and tour Salt Lake City, crossing under the Continental Divide via the famous five-mile long Moffat Tunnel.

Arrive back in Chicago where the DeNure coach awaits for your journey back to Canada.

San Francisco

Are you goin’ to San Francisco? Be sure to wear flowers in your hair! The city of fog and fab – where the “Summer of Love” was born and still lingers 50 years later – wears different clothes than the rest of the country. Rooflines are crooked, treetops lean away from the wind, and cable cars strain up the steep inclines of San Fran’s 43 notorious hills.

More than any other city, this is where you eat fresh. You’ll find the most restaurants and organic farmers markets per capita anywhere in North America.

A 3.5 hour sightseeing tour of the “City by the Bay” includes Golden Gate Park, Jackson Square, Telegraph Hill, the Presidio, and Fisherman’s Wharf. Golden Gate Park offers over 1,000 acres of gardens, museums, studios, and conservatories. The Presidio’s manicured lawns betray its 218-year history as an army base. In the visitor centre, the lines on the floor show the outline of military cells. The waterfront of Fisherman’s Wharf is a great place to shop ‘til you drop or eat ‘til you’re stuffed – this is where you can nab steaming hot fresh-off-the-boat Dungeness crab from outdoor stands!
