One of the world’s greatest natural harbours, Halifax is a lively waterfront city adorned with landmarks. In Sydney, Nova Scotia’s highlands welcome you with Celtic music and a culture fiercely proud of its Scottish roots. Affordable and isolated, lovely Charlottetown is revelling in a booming culinary scene thanks to the city’s own Culinary Institute of Canada. Learn about the roots of Confederation and enjoy an exclusive full-day excursion.

Cruise along the Gulf of St. Lawrence and experience a picture-postcard tour of the region. In Quebec City, your included excursion explores Old Town. Charlottetown: Visit the charming PEI Preserve Co. in a renovated 1913 butter factory. Pick up local “celtic blue” pottery, fruit cakes, and rhubarb relish! Tour Green Gables House, the home that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery’s story. In North Rustico, stop at World Famous “Fisherman’s Wharf,” home of the 60 ft salad bar, and all-you-can-eat mussels to go with your lobster!!

Quebec City: History is alive on this city tour with a local guide dressed in period costume. See historic venues such as Place-Royale and the Plains of Abraham. Visit the iconic Chateau Frontenac that was built by the Canadian Pacific Railroad in 1894, and sits atop one of the most scenic areas in the city, the Quartier Petit-Champlain. Enjoy lunch in the manor house overlooking Montmorency Falls. Admire stunning views from the suspension bridge over the Falls or from a cable car ride. Return to Quebec City with time to explore on your own.

Day 2: Boston, MA

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, then travel to Boston, the cradle of American history. Enjoy a brief orientation tour of this fascinating city before arriving at the port to board Holland America’s ms Maasdam. Enjoy the magnificent cuisine and be prepared for excellent service from the ship’s crew.

Day 3: Bar Harbor, ME

Once known as the exclusive summer resort of America’s richest families, this quintessential New England coastal town is tucked into a cove in the shade of Acadia National Park. Its raw coastal scenery is what first attracted artists from the Hudson River School in the 1840s and their art in turn lured visitors and the attention of America’s wealthiest families. Take a walk along the pretty streets exploring the grand mansions and immaculate gardens, slip into the quaint shops or simply relax on the Village Green.

Day 4: Halifax, NS

Explore Halifax, the Gateway to Atlantic Canada. This maritime city is big enough to be the economic and cultural capital of eastern Canada, but small enough to be easy going and hospitable. Located on one of the greatest natural harbours, Halifax has a lively waterfront, and is adorned with landmarks like the Citadel fortress and Pier 21, Canada’s Immigration Museum.

Day 5: Sydney, NS

A hundred thousand Gaelic welcomes await you in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia’s highlands. Here you can explore villages, drive the scenic Cabot Trail, or meander the quaint streets of Sydney. Watch for the giant fiddle, a traditional instrument in many local homes and a symbol of welcome to visitors.

Day 6: Charlottetown, PEI

A provincial capital with a distinctly English feel, Charlottetown is the birthplace of Canadian Confederation. Aside from monuments and museums, visitors will find Charlottetown rich in culture, but with a gentle small town feel. Enjoy an included excursion today with your fellow travellers. Travel to New Glasgow and sample the flavours of Prince Edward Island with a visit to the PEI Preserve Co. Housed in a renovated 1913 butter factory, visitors can see, hear, smell and taste Canada’s finest preserves being prepared for market. Then, it’s off to Green Gables House, the home that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery’s story of a little red-haired orphan, now famous throughout the world. In North Rustico, stop for a lobster lunch at the famed Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant before returning to Charlottetown for a city tour of this quaint and friendly capital.

Day 7: Cruising Gulf of St. Lawrence

Enjoy a relaxing day at sea lounging by the pool, or browse the many boutiques onboard. With Holland America’s excellent service, magnificent cuisine, and a host of entertaining activities, you’re sure to find lots to keep you busy.

Day 8: Quebec City, QC

Explore the rich culture of ‘La Belle Province’ with a visit to Quebec City, the second-oldest existing European settlement in Canada. This historic city is divided by steep bluffs into Upper Town, home to the Château Frontenac and Dufferin Terrace, and Lower Town, where Champlain built his first trading post. Enjoy an included excursion of Quebec City with your fellow travellers. The history of the city comes alive during a tour with a local guide, dressed in period costume. You will see historic venues such as Place-Royale, the Plains of Abraham and the cobblestone streets of Old Town. Journey just outside of the city and enjoy lunch in the historic manor house that overlooks Montmorency Falls. The falls, at 272 feet high, are the highest in the province of Quebec and are in fact 98 feet higher than Niagara Falls. You can admire stunning views from the suspension bridge over the Falls, the many lookout points or from a cable car ride. Return to Quebec City where you’ll enjoy some free time before boarding the ship.

Our coach will meet you in cosmopolitan Montreal as you disembark the ship. Continue your journey home with a stop for lunch in the beautiful Thousand Islands.
