As New England’s top beach destination, Cape Cod’s sandy peninsula is a relaxing retreat with outstanding natural beauty as the backdrop.

On the tip of the Cape is Provincetown, one of the best places to whale watch. Witness these magnificent mammals frolic in their ocean playground during a whale-watching cruise. Prefer to stay on land? Take a dune buggy and explore Provincetown’s white sandy shores.

Ferry across Nantucket Sound to charming Martha’s Vineyard. This retreat for the famous has a rich fishing history, evident by the lighthouses dotting the windswept cliffs. A delectable lobster dinner caps off a full day of exploring “The Vineyard”.

Chatham and Sandwich are two of New England’s must-see towns. Sink your toes into the soft sandy beaches of Chatham or tour the Marconi Maritime Center. The Sandwich Glass Museum boasts demonstrations and a gift shop full of gorgeous ornaments, artwork and jewelry inspired by Cape Cod’s stunning shores. Delve into the lives of the Kennedys with a visit to the JFK Museum.

Cape Cod – 7 Days

Day 1: Albany, NY

Depart Ontario this morning and make your way to the border crossing in Niagara (Route B) or Gananoque (Route C). As you travel through New York state to Albany, stop for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 2: South Yarmouth, MA

Continue on through Massachusetts making your way to the Atlantic Coast. Cross the Sagamore Bridge into colourful Cape Cod. The aroma of sea air and the views of the ocean will surely captivate! Upon arrival at your oceanfront resort, you’ll be greeted with a wine and cheese reception. Enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at the hotel this evening.

Day 3: Provincetown, MA

Savour a leisurely breakfast before departing for Provincetown. Enjoy a tour of the area followed by some time to browse the downtown waterfront area with its artistic and eclectic shops. Today, choose between a whale watching cruise or an exhilarating ride through the sand dunes. Be sure to have your cameras ready as you experience dramatic dune views, or witness magnificent mammals frolic and feed in their ocean playground. Tonight, enjoy dinner at one of Cape Cod’s fine restaurants.

Day 4: JFK Museum

Following breakfast, venture to Cape Cod’s oldest town, Sandwich, which was once the site of America’s largest glass factory in the 19th century. Enjoy some free time to stroll around the village, Dexter’s Grist Mill and Shawme Pond. Then, tour the charming village of Chatham. Continue on to Hyannis for views of Saint Francis Xavier Church, Hyannisport and a picture stop at the Kennedy Memorial overlooking beautiful Hyannis Harbor and Veterans Beach. You will also visit the JFK Museum which depicts the ‘Camelot’ years of the Kennedys. Return to the resort in the afternoon and you will have the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Day 5: Martha’s Vineyard

Sea breezes welcome us this morning as we spend the day on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Richly steeped in history, the area is known for its appeal to the rich and famous. Enjoy a guided tour of this charming island with free time for lunch and shopping. Explore the many unique neighbourhoods such as Oak Bluffs, noted for its collection of small Carpenter Gothic cottages clustered in the Methodist Camp Meeting Grounds. Edgartown is home to stately sea captain’s homes as well as fine boutiques and shops. We return by ferry to the mainland after a full day of sightseeing. This evening, experience a lobster dinner with your fellow travellers – a Cape Cod must!

Day 6: Verona, NY

Start the morning with a hearty New England breakfast before saying farewell to Cape Cod. Visit Plymouth Rock before continuing your journey through Massachusetts. Stop for dinner and overnight accommodation in Verona, New York.

Day 7: Travel home

As you travel through New York State today, reminisce with your fellow travellers about your days on ‘the Cape’ and enjoy a farewell lunch en route home.
