Sailing southward, take in the stone walls and bright colonial buildings of Cartagena, Colombia. Witness sailing precision as we navigate through the Panama Canal’s 82 kilometres of locks measuring only a few metres wider than your cruise ship! Along the Pacific coast, we stop in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Puerto Chiapas, Mexico. Impossibly green, here you will find waterfalls and misty forests unmatched in biodiversity, and menus that serve up exotic flavours that match the unbeatable scenery. Take in the history of lost cities and pirates, and architecture that ranges from crumbling cathedrals to modern resorts to quaint thatch huts.

We continue north to Cabo San Lucas, the pretty bracelet of Mexico’s Baha California peninsula, and onward to San Diego, California’s pristine beach jewel. Our final ports of call take you to Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, for a city tour of Canada’s waterfront city. Stay overnight in cozy Whistler village before returning to Vancouver to head home by rail or by air.

North America is a spectacular mix of geography, ancient ruins, modern cities, man-made marvels, and natural wonders. “Discover North America” with us and experience this unforgettable adventure!

Panama Canal

The Panama Canal embodies the dream of a continent. Just as explorers searched for centuries for the Northwest passage, many searched for a route to replace the treacherous journey around Cape Horn, connecting the Atlantic to the Pacific.

A marvel of modern engineering, ships are raised and lowered 85 feet along three steps of locks that end at Gatun Lake. The water runs downhill into the lock chambers by gravity – no pumps! Each lock chamber is only 110 feet wide, which requires a high degree of navigation precision!
