Southern hospitality makes Destin the Panhandle’s best-kept secret.
Destin is the deep south’s best-kept secret, tucked quietly under Alabama. TripAdvisor and Good Morning America single out this panhandle place for its natural beauty. Nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and Chocktawhatchee Bay, Destin is the jewel of Florida’s Emerald Coast. It’s known as “the world’s luckiest fishing village,” so charter a boat and catch a big one!
Anglers aren’t the only ones who feel lucky to be here. Savvy landlubbers soak up more than sun in this special spot. Golf tops the list of must-do’s, so set a tee time at nearby Kelly Plantation golf course, Indian Bayou Golf Club, or Regatta Bay Golf and Country Club. Experience where the dolphins play with a cruise and fill your camera. Or slow down, slow way down and dig your toes into impossibly white sand that somehow, amazingly, remains cool even in the heat of the day!
Different from the east coast pomp, Destin enjoys a slower pace and a howdy y’all hospitality. Take advantage of the freshest seafood along the coast, and make it real with a side order of fried green tomatoes. Eat outdoors in the balmy air at day’s end and watch the waves roll in as the sun slips into the Gulf creating unbelievable sunsets. This is Florida at its finest!
