The Christmas holiday season is a great time to visit Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The historic town, known for its three-day battle in 1863, dresses up for the holiday season and offers a wide range of unique events to help you create new Christmas traditions.

Arrive in Gettysburg on Christmas Eve and visit the Gettysburg Heritage Center, home to the largest military diorama in history, before a festive dinner with Confederate General Robert E. Lee and his wife. Take time to remember the fallen on Christmas Day with a guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield. Thousands of soldiers rest in the Gettysburg Cemetery, where President Abraham Lincoln delivered his famous Address. Then, enjoy the fellowship of a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Paul Philippoteaux’s Gettysburg Cyclorama, a 360° scene of Pickett’s Charge, puts us in the middle of the Civil War on Boxing Day. But we’ll come back to the 21st century for a tour and lunch with Mamie Eisenhower at the National Historic Eisenhower Farmstead. Dinner at the Fairfield Inn, built in 1757 before the Declaration of Independence, and a stop at the Corning Glass Museum to see more than 3500 years of history displayed in glass, round out our Gettysburg Christmas holiday.
