North America’s famous waterway is outlined in granite rock, evergreens, sugar maple, and birch. In September, the shores burst with reds and yellows that compete with miles of sunset horizons.
This colourful tour circles through Ontario and three U.S. states, providing stunning views of the rugged landscapes – rocky cliffs, cobbled beaches, and quiet coves – that are home to caribou, timber wolves, black bears, and flocks of migratory birds.
Follow the Niagara Escarpment to the tip of the Bruce Peninsula and the town of Tobermory. See 400-million-year old rock formations, caves, and grottos carved by time. Journey north to Wawa, land of crystal green waters and emerald woods, once known as the “miniature Klondike” for its gold and iron ore. In Kakabeka Falls, part of the Voyageur route, watch the falls crash into the gorge from the boardwalk that wraps the top of the falls.
Heading south, we stop in Duluth, Minnesota, the “San Francisco of the Midwest,” a thriving small city on a steep hillside nestled on Lake Superior’s shores. In Manitowoc, we take the ferry across Lake Michigan on the SS Badger to Ludington, a harbour town bustling with summer recreation activities.
Your last stop on the circular voyage is in Frankenmuth, Michigan’s vibrant “Little Bavaria.” Enjoy old-world Bavarian flavour and relax over a delicious family-style dinner – the perfect end to your Great Lakes getaway.
Wisconsin Dells is one of the most popular traveller destinations in the state. Located in south central Wisconsin, the town is tucked along the Wisconsin River where glacier-carved sandstone formations provide spectacular riverbank scenery. Cave of the Mounds gives visitors a chance to view remarkable stalactites, stalagmites, and crystal formations walking along paved, lighted walkways.
Other activities include river boat tours, horse-drawn wagon rides, and water ski shows. There’s also a casino and several world-class golf courses if that’s your kind of green. From sandstones to shopping, adventure to relaxation, the Wisconsin Dells has something for everyone, including those who like to eat!
Deluxe motorcoach transportation, 8 nights accommodation, 8 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 4 dinners, all highlights listed, a DeNureTours Tour Director, Connections Program and all taxes.
