Behind its sleepy coves and charming lighthouses, Newfoundland & Labrador is a place of unusual geography with a storybook history of Vikings, shipwrecks, and pirates. Today, the pirates are gone, but a vibrant spirit lives on! We bring you closer to the natural wonders of this breathtaking land.

History buffs will enjoy Norstead Viking Village, a living history museum of a Viking trading port. Discover what Viking life was like in 1000 AD as you explore period buildings and a replica Viking ship.

Board a catamaran for a cruise to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, home to Canada’s largest population of humpback whales and nearly half a million Atlantic Puffins. In the wilds of Gros Morne National Park, a local guide points out the unique bouldered landscape of the ancient Tablelands.

In St. John’s, the small-town city capital, walk the steep streets of candy-coloured row-houses and explore the “City of Legends” with a guided tour of 17th century Signal Hill.

Join us where the air smells of sea salt, accordions compete with bagpipes, and hospitality reigns supreme. Stop for a bite where trollers bring in the catch of the day for buttery fingers. Take in Canada’s rugged east coast as we travel through the province of “kind folks.”

St. John’s

In St. John’s, Canada’s oldest city, walk the steep streets and explore the “City of Legends” with a guided tour. Check out Cabot Tower, Signal Hill, The Battery, and the many carefully curated museums that tell of St. John’s tragic and triumphant history.

Visit The Rooms or the Johnson Geo Centre. The Rooms is an all-in-one museum, art gallery, and archive. A massive building of stone and glass, it is Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest public cultural space. There are over a million artifacts to see – and a giant squid! The angular Johnson Geo Centre explains geo-history back to the birth of the earth in its underground interactive displays. Check out the Great Rock Wall and explore far-from-humdrum exhibits about the Titanic, the planet, and space. Don’t miss the outdoor Geo-Vista Park!

When you’re “just ‘bout gutfounded” (very hungry), stop where trollers bring in the catch of the day!
