Calgary Stampede

Calgary is Canada’s best in a stetson. It’s a can-do city overloaded with generosity, dern-good cookin’, a fresh forward-thinking culture, and that out-west cowboy vibe. Calgary ticks off every checkbox on a traveller’s list, including playing host to Canada’s biggest party, the Calgary Stampede! Staying in downtown Calgary, you are within walking distance to the Stampede excitement!

Let’s head out for a bit! The Badlands bury prehistoric bones under 8000 hectares of fossil-rich prairie and Lake Louise has that jaw-dropping view that keeps the postcard industry profitable. Nature went overboard here: an incredible turquoise lake at the foot of hulking mountains divided by the Victoria Glacier and fringed with evergreens. We’ll take a gondola up Sulphur Mountain for lunch and float the Bow Valley River before dinner in Banff. There’s a lot to do in one week, so put on your cowboy boots, breathe in that Alberta-raised beef BBQ smell, and give us your best “Yeehaw, Honey!” We’re in for seven spectacular days, crowned by Canada’s favourite summer rodeo – with seats so close you’ll feel like you’re in the saddle! The Calgary Tower is the perfect place to reflect on your stay in Calgary with panoramic views of the city and the Rocky Mountains.

The Sizzlin’ Calgary Stampede Package

The best cowboys and cowgirls compete at one of the world’s most famous rodeos – the Calgary Stampede. Canada puts on one humdinger of a show and you’ll see it all from your reserved seats at the rodeo and parade. Of all the parades in the world, only the Rose Bowl is bigger! Your full-day admission to the rodeo opens the barn door to more fine horses, bulls, steers, and clowns than one ring can hold. And there’s more plaid in the Grandstand than a honkytonk can handle!

Enjoy event tickets to Stampede Park pairing skill with grit. The barrel racing, bareback riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, and saddle bronc will keep you on the edge of your seat. The Klaxon blasts when it gets dark and the GMC Rangeland Derby heats up the Grandstand Arena. For nine heats, 36 chuckwagon drivers and 216 horses vie for over $1 million in prize money. And the ground thunders!

Capping off a thrilling night is the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show with acrobatic dance, music performances, and fireworks. For 50 years, the Grandstand Show has performed for over 5 million people, earning it the title of “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.” So get gussied up, get out, and giddyup!

The visitor’s centre anchors over 8,000 hectares of groves and cottonwood plains that provide habitat for many bird species today and many dinosaur species 75 million years ago. These destinations offer very limited accessibility and guests can expect to experience uneven surfaces (i.e. cobblestones) or hilly ground on a regular basis. This level applies to many of our overseas tours as many historical landmarks tend to demand greater effort to reach. This also applies to our Newfoundland tours as accessibility options are scarce in some remote areas.
