It’s that time of year again, deer season, when hunters trek off in the woods for a prized buck. In Michigan, those left behind are cheekily called “deer widows,” and they’re hunters after a different prize—bargains!
It’s time to shop ‘til you drop, so put on your walking shoes and flex those credit cards, gift cards, and exclusive members-only offers. Frankenmuth is a fabulous “Little Bavaria” destination for discounts, deals, and “I gotta have it” steals. From Ann Taylor to Kate Spade, Coach to Le Creuset, Pottery Barn to Perfumania, outlet malls and novelty shops are an excellent way to celebrate being a Deer Widow. Birch Run Premium Outlet is the largest outlet in the Midwest. River Place overloads your arms with bags in a German-themed shopping village. Bronner’s Christmas Store gets you in the holiday spending spirit with more than 50,000 ornaments. We’ll stay in the lovely Bavarian Inn and Restaurant on the Cass River. Have a piece of Apfel Kuchen then indulge in retail therapy at the Castle Shops where commerce on cobblestone creates a fairytale atmosphere (that accepts tap). Deer Widows from several states and Canada make an annual purchasing pilgrimage to Frankenmuth.  Join fellow savvy shoppers on a 4-day spree!
