Ottawa and Quebec City

Discover city landmarks, scenic countryside, and fabulous Canadian culture in two iconic Canadian cities – Ottawa and Quebec City. Spend your first night in the Nation’s Capital, where our downtown hotel offers easy access to the Byward Market and the shops of the Rideau Center. Then it’s on to La Belle Province.

Ride the train from La Malbaie to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré past magnificent farmsteads and picturesque rolling hills. Once in Quebec City, stroll the narrow streets and squat boutiques of Quartier PetitChamplain. Steps from our hotel, museums, galleries, and fabulous eateries fill your soul with old-world charm and Quebec’s joie de vivre.

While in Quebec City, we’ll visit the Albert Gilles Copper Art Museum, which showcases a century of renowned metal craftsmanship, and displays work by local artisans. Take the gondola above towering Montmorency Falls for breathtaking views. The quaint Île d’Orléans Bilodeau Cider House Orchard serves us cider and sparkling wine to taste and take home. We end with a sweet finale: an authentic maple sugar shack tasting and lunch at Sucrerie de la Montagne, a Quebec heritage site set in the heart of an ancient maple forest.

Travel to Ottawa

A 7:00 am departure from Brampton with regular pickups along the route heading east. We’ll stop for lunch in Brockville and arrive in Ottawa for an orientation tour. Settle in at the hotel with time to relax and freshen up before dinner on your own and the evening to explore in Ottawa.

Ottawa to La Malbaie

After breakfast, we make our way to La Malbaie with a stop for lunch in Trois Rivieres. Arrive and check into your five-star accommodation, the Fairmont le Manoir Richelieu. Perched high up on a cliff overlooking the majestic St. Lawrence River, you’ll have a free evening to take in your surroundings or perhaps try your luck at the Casino de Charlevoix accessible by an underground walkway from the hotel.

Charlevoix Train to Quebec City

Board the Charlevoix Train, get comfortable and enjoy the unique spectacle that presents itself to you: majestic landscapes that pass by the coastal villages. Running along the St. Lawrence from La Malbaie, crossing towns and coastal villages in a postcard-perfect setting before arriving at Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré where you’ll enjoy a tour of the stunning Basilica. The main doors of the Basilica are hand-made of copper by artist Albert Gilles whos family museum is your next stop with hands-on exhibits of stunning copper works from around the world. Discover how this soft, pretty metal is plucked from the earth! Then, the Montmorency Falls gondola waits to take your breath away. A natural wonder, and the province’s tallest waterfall at 30m higher than Niagara Falls, it was described by John Keats as “the monstrous steep.” Enjoy the views from the bridge and enjoy dinner at the Falls.

Quebec City

Breakfast at the hotel followed by a guided tour of the must-see landmarks of Quebec City. From your centrally located hotel, stroll the narrow streets of this fabulous city. Shop in the boutiques of the Quartier Petit-Champlain. The remainder of the day is yours to discover Quebec City your way. Explore museums, galleries, and the fabulous dining options that fill your soul with old charm and Quebec’s joie de vivre.

Île d’Orléans, Free Time in Quebec City

Breakfast at the hotel and then depart for quaint Ile d’Orleans. While there, we’ll treat ourselves to chocolate and apple confections. Ile d’Orleans offers a delicious retreat including La Chocolaterie de I’lle—we dare you to resist the truffles!—and the Cidrerie Verger Bilodeau. The cider farm sits on a tasty 6-hectare orchard of 3000 trees that produce 10 varieties of apples. Try ice ciders and sparkling wines. Take home dark chocolate spreads, maple jam, apple butter, and maple-cranberry vinaigrette (perfect for green salads or as a pork or chicken marinade). We’ll have lunch at Le Moulin St Laurent then depart for the Chouinard Pier for a sightseeing cruise on the St. Lawrence. Back at the dock, the rest of the evening is yours… Try to save some of those truffles for the coach ride home!

Sugar Shack Lunch, Travel Home

Breakfast followed by a relaxing motor coach ride that has a sweet surprise in store! We’ll stop for lunch at the authentic maple sugar shack, the Sucrerie de la Montagne (Candy of the Mountain). Cozy cabins nestled in the heart of an ancient maple forest, the Sucrerie de la Montagne is a Quebec heritage site. Celebrating over 40 years as an authentic Quebec experience, founder Pierre Faucher and son Stefan are committed to honouring the traditions of Quebec. Apart from a warm feeling, take home maple products from lip balm to syrup to candles to—you guessed it! Maple candy—or pick up an authentic woven sash belt. 
Back on the road after lunch with drop-offs en route to home.
