Day 1: Flight to Cape Town

Day 2: Arrive in South Africa, Travel to Stellenbosch
After arriving in Cape Town, a shuttle will transfer the group to nearby Stellenbosch, a charming small city that will be our home base for the next three days.

Day 3: Guided tour of Stellenbosch
Today, enjoy a leisurely tour of Stellenbosch, visit a museum, and then savour a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4: Winery Tour
Enjoy a tour that features several local wineries, and then enjoy a free evening.

Day 5: Cape of Good Hope & Penguins
Depart early from Stellenbosch and head to Cape of Good Hope, stopping to see the penguins on Boulders Beach along the way. Arrive at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, a busy retail, dining, and entertainment district. Check into the hotel, freshen up, and then we’ll venture out to enjoy dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Day 6: Robben Island tour & Table Mountain
Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years of imprisonment on Robben Island. Today, we take a boat ride to visit Robben Island, now one of the most popular places to visit in South Africa. After spending some free time in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, we’ll head to Cape Town’s most iconic sight, Table Mountain, and take the gondola to look out over the city and the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 7: Free Day with Sightseeing Pass
Today is a free day to explore Cape Town, with its variety of world-class museums, gardens, and other sights. The City Sightseeing depot is near the hotel, and our 2-day pass gives access to a harbour cruise, canal cruise, walking tours downtown and multiple bus loops around the city.

Day 8: Fly to Johannesburg
After an easy morning, head to Cape Town airport and fly to Johannesburg. Check into the hotel, and then enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 9: Apartheid Museum & Soweto tour
Visit the award-winning museum that tells the story and illustrates the rise and fall of Apartheid. Then, tour the township of Soweto, home to Nelson Mandela, Bishop Desmond Tutu, and many others.

Day 10: Fly to Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls
We’ll depart on an early flight to Zimbabwe to see Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River. Also known as the “smoke that thunders,” and at over a mile wide and about twice the height of Niagara Falls, it is one of the world’s largest waterfalls. In the evening we’ll enjoy a dinner cruise on Zambezi River.

Day 11: Victoria Falls from land and air
In the morning, with your rain poncho, enjoy a walking tour to the edge of the falls. In the afternoon, experience the falls from the air with a helicopter tour over the falls. In the evening, visit a nearby community for a cultural dinner and show.

Day 12: Travel to Kruger National Park
After an easy morning, fly to Mpumalanga, South Africa, and travel to Kruger National Park. After arriving at the Rio Vista Lodge, settle in, and enjoy the first of many meals at The Deck Restaurant.

Day 13: Full Day Kruger Safari
This is a sure to be a special day! Depart before dawn, and drive into Kruger National Park to experience the sunrise and the magnificent animals that live in the park.

Day 14: Panorama Tour
This driving tour features some of South Africa’s most spectacular vistas. Stand at a high point overlooking the Blyde River Canyon, see majestic waterfalls, and visit breathtaking Graskop Gorge.

Day 15: Relaxing day, Sunset Safari, and Braai
Enjoy a relaxing day at the hotel, then head back to Kruger National Park for a sunset safari & Braai (BBQ) with a park ranger.

Day 16: Chimp Eden, Sudwala Caves
Founded by Jane Goodall, Chimp Eden is a refuge for chimpanzees that have been abused and misplaced from their natural habitats in Africa. Observe these animals in semi-wild enclosures as they display their unique personalities and social interactions. Then, head deep underground in the ancient Sudwala Caves.

Day 17: Full Day Kruger Safari
This safari will be more relaxed. Enjoy and appreciate the landscape and some of the finer details missed while searching for the big animals on the first two expeditions into the park.

Enjoy an easy morning, then it’s back to the Kruger airport to begin the journey home.
