Rum Runners Tour

Now this is fun! With a cast of colourful characters, hear the stories and see the places of interest; the hideouts, secret passageways, and mansions associated with the rumrunners. You’ll even have lunch at a speakeasy where “Fingers” will be tickling the ivories with tunes from “The Roaring Twenties.”

Pelee Island 

Enjoy a day on beautiful, serene Pelee Island.  Learn how the unique features of the island provide suitable conditions for wine production, and taste how deliciously various wines pair with food! After lunch, enjoy a leisurely, informative tour of this hidden island gem.

This is your opportunity to be whisked away from the ordinary to a completely different world!  From your stay at Caesars Windsor, with the energy and nightlife of a world-class casino, to the world of rum-running during Prohibition, to tranquil, peaceful Pelee Island.  This is your getaway tour with fun and games and tales and tastings!

Day 1: Travel to Windsor

Enjoy the comfort of the motorcoach while travelling westward across Southern Ontario to Windsor.  Arrive at Caesars Windsor, a four-star hotel & casino overlooking the river. Enjoy a free evening of casino fun with complimentary food and play vouchers.

Day 2: Windsor Rum Runners Tour, Free Evening at the Casino

After breakfast, step back in time with the Rum Runners Tour. Tour Windsor with a colourful cast of characters, hear stories, discover the secret hideouts of bootleggers, and see the mansions built using rumrunners’ money.  Even the courthouse, the Ambassador Bridge, and the United Methodist Church had a role to play! After spending the day in 1920s Windsor, return to the hotel for a free evening.

Day 3:  Pelee Island Tour & Wine Tasting, Free Evening at the Casino

After a hearty breakfast, board the coach and depart for the Leamington Ferry Terminal. On Pelee Island, enjoy a guided island tour where you will learn all about the special geological features of the southernmost landmass in Canada. Learn how the island provides prime conditions for growing grapes for wine production with lunch and a wine tasting. Arrive back at the hotel in the evening.  Perhaps you’ll enjoy dinner with some new friends from the day’s adventures, and enjoy some games in the casino.

Day 4: Homeward

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then it’s back aboard the coach for the journey homeward. What was your favourite part of the trip: the Rum Runners, the casino, or Pelee Island?  You’ll never look at the Ambassador Bridge the same way again!

This itinerary includes a ferry ride. Although for most people medication is not required, there may be some who may want to bring along a remedy for motion sickness.  You don’t want to let a little thing like that spoil this amazing experience.
